ACFC was founded in 1995 and is commonly referred to as America’s Center Parenting Organization. Over the past 15 years, we have been working to ensure that children maintain full relationships with both of their parents in the event of divorce or cases of unmarried parentage.
We have spent years bringing ‘the other side’ of the story to the public eye. In conjunction with our network of affiliated organizations, we have launched numerous campaigns and efforts to improve the processes that affect the lives of parents and children, especially those not living in intact environments.
Currently, nearly 40% of our nation’s children will spend part of their childhood without one of their biological parents residing in the home on a day-to-day basis. While numerous reasons explain this phenomenon, research tells us that outcomes for children are decidedly worse when only one parent is present.
Most of the time, the missing parent is the Father. Through various influences over the past forty years, society has been conditioned to see father absence as a consequence of fathers abandoning their families. As the old saying goes: ‘Nothing could be further from the truth.’ Of course, some men have abandoned their families; however, that stereotype is far from reflective of the case for most men. Given half a chance, most fathers who are separated from their children want nothing more than to be with them.
Research shows that our Family Court system presently operates in a manner at odds with what is truly in the best interest of our children. As you read through this website, you will find many resources. We invite you to join with us as we work to ensure a future where children have both parents fully engaged in their lives.
